Background from public sources

Project and funding

The project's full name is "Clocalization – Localization for Climate Change Adaptation". Konak Municipality and the Social Climate Association (Sosyal İklim Derneği) ran it together. It is supported under the Climate Change Adaptation Grant Programme. The programme is run by Türkiye's Ministry of Environment, Urbanisation and Climate Change and financed by the European Union, with UNDP among its stakeholders.[1][2]

Aim and target groups

The project aims to prepare a participatory climate change adaptation plan for the Konak district. Press coverage presented it as the district's first climate adaptation plan prepared with public participation. The project ran from 2023 to 2025. Participants included women, young people, children, refugees, persons with disabilities and private-sector representatives.[1][3]

Output

The project's main output is the Konak Climate Adaptation Action Plan. The plan contains 42 actions shaped by participants' input. According to the project's profile page, the plan informed the municipality's climate adaptation policies. None of the sources report a published independent evaluation of the project's results.[3]
