Background from public sources

The programme

After the 6 February 2023 earthquakes, the Community Volunteers Foundation (TOG) carried out volunteer work in Hatay, Kahramanmaraş, Adıyaman, Gaziantep and Malatya and opened support centers with the backing of its stakeholders. Its press release of 1 September 2023 describes the centers as "5 Cities, 9 Support Centers & 1 Mobile Support Center Truck". The plan offered play, science and art workshops for children; art workshops, sports and school support for young people; and vocational training, self-care workshops and psychosocial support for women. The release says the activities aimed to reach more than 10,000 children, young people and women each month.[1]

GSK and P&G centers

GSK Türkiye joined TOG's Support Centers Project through a partnership that started in Adıyaman. The center is in a container city and has a full-time psychologist. It offers maths, Turkish and science classes for children and young people, and workshops and information sessions for women. GSK Türkiye aims to reach 6,500 people a year. P&G Türkiye opened Umut Evi (Hope House) in the Memurkent container city in İslahiye, Gaziantep. The complex was expected to serve about 2,000 people. It contains a Youth Support Center run with TOG and open seven days a week, as well as a sports school run with the Turkish National Olympic Committee.[2][3]
